Premisas de Occidente / Marcela Chacón

...Ya que de centenarios hablamos: hoy imaginamos lo que será realidad en 100 años.  ¿Qué habrán imaginado nuestros abuelos?

1. Las cosas que me inculcó esta cultura a sobrevalorar: sexuar, sentirme bien, satisfacerme. Y a menospreciar: producir bienes con mis manos, la soledad y el silencio. De ahí que sienta que muero si carezco de lo primero o si tengo lo segundo.

2. ¿Un mundo desalentador y a punto de terminarnos a nosotros mismos y al planeta? Esa concepción –que tiene al mundo en activo- la heredamos de la magnífica pero egocéntrica cultura europea que enloqueció de poder con los bienes sustraídos desde el S. XVI de América, África y Asia para producir lujosas noblezas por un lado, y recursos sobrados para el posterior desarrollo industrial y financiero; que por cierto, viaja de retorno como crisis, pero del equilibrio ecológico.

3. El abuso y el crimen no tienen nunca justificación alguna, pero siempre en su génesis aparecen soterradas la castración y la crueldad. La castración de la infancia, y la crueldad de escindirse de la naturaleza.

4. La cultura que privilegia la acumulación de propiedad individual sobre el cuidado y preservación del bien común, está condenada a perpetuar la violencia.

5. Las ciencias biológicas se basan en la colección de especímenes para muertos, colecionarlos, diseccionarlos, analizarlos, estudiarlos y modificarlos. Si alguien permanece sentado enmedio de un bosque contemplando la belleza de su modesto orden, es un inútil....      ¿Quieren entonces que hablemos de las ciencias médicas?

6. ¿Qué ha sido de nuestros orígenes mesoamericanos, orientales y árabes?

7. La cultura llamada Occidental deprime porque tiene las siguientes premisas:

a) concibe al individuo separado de la naturaleza;

b) su placer reside en explotarla;

c) crecer significa negar a la madre, al padre, olvidar el origen para pretender, y

d) Ser consiste en ensimismarse: autodefinir el yo interminablemente.

8. Otra fractura importantísima: la indiferencia al mundo del conocimiento onírico, si acaso la imaginación surge como gran fruto, eso sí restringida, constreñida a la razón.

9. Pareciera que viene una hecatombe. Los últimos estudios que permiten construir registros sobre las modificaciones de la naturaleza en el remoto pasado señalan también que cada 400 años hay un ciclo de mayor agua y un reverdecimiento del planeta, es decir, que permite una época de gran riqueza agrícola. Y si lo de dentro sale afuera, y con el reverdecimiento de la Tierra reverdece ¿...qué más reverdecerá con ella? Una época de mucha agua, gran producción agrícola coincidió con el llamado Renacimiento...

10. Cada vez toma mayor fuerza la sentencia que mi abuelo le repetía a mi padre: ni creas todo lo que te dicen, ni repitas todo lo que escuchas.

11. Salvo algunos intentos aislados la ciencia, después de cientos de años no ha podido construir una visión articulada que dé cuenta de nosotros y nuestro lugar en el universo, al tiempo que devele las visiones religiosas o las populares engañifas baratas. Cada científico sentado en su potentado polvo de arena, lamentando la dificultosa especialidad de su enorme sabiduría...

12. En la cultura Occidental, si los jóvenes son estudiosos y cultivan su inteligencia, son nerds (¿?), si cultivan el deporte, son tontos o brutos (¡!) y si tenen ideales, son hippies cuando mejor, o dis-funcionales cuando peor (¡¿?!). Los jóvenes son los seres más audaces y admirables que conozco porque sobrevivien -mal que bien- una realidad que pretende arrebatarles todas sus esperanzas.

13. Hoy alguien me dijo: Para el imaginario de Occidente la felicidad no aparece en el trayecto, sino hasta el fin.

1. Because of centenarians we are speaking: today we can really imagine what will be in 100 years from now. What our grandparents have guessed?

2. The things that this culture taught me to overestimate: sex, feeling well, satisfaction. And to despise: to produce goods with my hands, solitude and silence. Hence I feel dying if I lack one of the first ones, and also if I have the latter, too.

3. A world about to end disappointing and ourselves and the planet? This concept, which has the world on active we inherited from the magnificent, but self-centered European culture mad of power with stolen goods from the S. XVI of America, Africa and Asia to produce luxurious nobilities on the one hand, and resources for further industrial and financial development, which by the way, they are way back as a crisis, but of the ecological balance.

4. Abuse and crime never have any justification, but always appear buried in its genesis castration and cruelty. The castration of childrenhood, and the cruelty of break away from Nature. Culture that favors the accumulation of private property over the care and preservation of the common goods, is doomed to continued violence.

5. The biological sciences are based on the collection of dead specimens, collecting, dissect, analyze, study and modify them. If someone sits in the middle of a forest looking at the beauty of its modest order, is a lazy one .... You want me then to talk about medical science.

6. What happened to our Mesoamerican, Eastern and Arab origins?

7. Called Western culture is depressing because it has the following assumptions: a) the person is conceived separate from Nature, b) our pleasures lies in exploiting Nature, c) Maturity means to deny the mother, father, to pretend, and to forget the origin, d) To be is engrossed: self-define endlessly.

8. Another important fracture: indifference to the world of dream knowledge, if anything; in the better option the imagination emerges as a great fruit, albeit restricted, constrained to reason.

9. It seems that is near a catastrophe. It also seems that every 400 years there is a cycle of increased water and a greening of the planet, a time of agricultural wealth. And if what is inside it is outside and the earth grows green, what else with it? A time of great water, great agricultural production coincided with the Renaissance ...

10. In recent years, the sentence that my grandfather said to my father becomes more significant: do not believe everything you say, and neither repeat everything you hear

11. Except for some isolated attempts of science, after hundreds of years has not been able to build a coordinated approach to account for ourselves and our place in the universe, while desmitify the religious views or cheap belives. Each scientist sitting in thier sand tiny dust, lamenting the special difficulty of their vast wisdom ...

12. In Western culture, if young people are students and cultivate their intelligence, they are nerds (¿?), if they practice sports: silly or gross (!) And if they have ideals, they are hippies at best, or at worst dysfunctional (¡¿?!). Young people are the most daring people I know because they survive a reality that seeks to take away all their hopes.
