Si pudiésemos reducir la población de la Tierra a una pequeña aldea de exactamente 100 habitantes, manteniendo las proporciones existentes actualmente, sería algo así:

Habría:

•   57 asiáticos          
•   21 europeos
•    8 africanos
•    4 americanos

52 mujeres
48 hombres
70 no serían blancos
30 serían blancos
70 no cristianos
30 cristianos
89 heterosexuales
11 homosexuales

Seis personas poseerían el 59% de toda la riqueza y serían norteamericanos de USA.

De las 100 personas, 80 vivirían en  condiciones sub-humanas.

70 no sabrían leer
50 sufrirían desnutrición
  1 persona estaría a punto de morir
  1 bebé estaría próximo a nacer
 Sólo 1 (sí, sólo 1) tendría educación universitaria.

En esta aldea, habría apenas 1 persona que posee una computadora.

Al analizar nuestro mundo desde esta perspectiva tan reducida, se hace más  palpable la necesidad de aceptar y comprender la realidad general, en especial la necesidad de educación y de una más equilibrada distribución de la riqueza.

Ahora piense...
Si usted se levantó esta mañana con más salud que enfermedades, entonces tiene más suerte que millones de personas que no sobrevivirán esta semana.

Si usted nunca experimentó los peligros de la guerra, la soledad de estar preso, la agonía de ser torturado, o la aflicción del hambre, entonces, está mejor que 500 millones de personas.

Si usted tiene comida en el refrigerador, ropa en el armario, un techo sobre su cabeza
y un lugar donde dormir, usted es mas rico que el 75% de la población mundial.

Si usted leyó este mensaje, acaba de recibir una doble bendición: alguien estaba pensando en usted y, mas aún, tiene mejor suerte que más de 2 billones de personas en este mundo, que son analfabetos.

When one considers our world from this narrow perspective, we can visualize our need of acceptance, understanding, especially of resources for education. Now think ...

If you got up this morning with more health than illness, then you are luckier than millions of people will not survive this week.

If you have never experienced the danger of battle, the loneliness of being in jail, the agony of torture, or the affliction of hunger, then you are better than 500 million people.

If you have food in the refrigerator, clothes in the closet, a roof over your head
and a place to sleep, you are richer than 75% of the population.

If you read this message, just received a double blessing: someone was thinking of you and -even more- you had better luck than 2 billion people in this world who are illiterate, they just can’t read and write.
