Concupiscencia de los ojos / Concupiscencia of the eyes

A finales del siglo XIX, la Ciudad de México se constituyó en un importante espacio donde el placer se convertiría en una pieza significativa para la industria gráfica. Hacia 1897 aparecen las primeras postales ilustradas y también fotográficas de índole erótica que causarían especial atención en el público masculino. Semanarios y revistas de divertimento brindaron a los receptores, pícaras caricaturas y dibujos; así mismo, los espectáculos  teatrales de carácter sicalíptico serían causa de censura.

La obra de Alba H. González Reyes muestra como el ideal decimonónico denominado ángel del hogar, se desmorona de manera inversamente proporcional con la creciente presentación y representación del cuerpo desnudo femenino en la época, y cómo se convierte este cuerpo femenino en el origen de una mirada nueva, dicotómica, articulada entre la licencia y la prohibición, pero siempre impulsada por los intereses económicos del creciente mercado masculino que consumía el producto con abierta y no cuestionada doble moral.

Interesantísimo estudio que pone fresca información sobre la no siempre analizada industria del entretenimiento, mucho menos en México, y cómo ha participado en la construcción de la sexualidad femenina actual.

Towards 1897 they appear the first photographic postal of erotic femenine nude, that would cause special attention in the masculine public. Weekly divertimento magazines offered cartoons and drawings of this kind; also, in the theater spectacles of would be censorship cause because of its sicalíptico character . The book of Alba H. González Reyes shows how the nineteenth-century ideal femenine home angel crumbles in a inversely proportional way with the increasing presentation and representation of the feminine naked body, and how feminine body becomes the origin of a new, dichotomizing glance, articulated between the license and the prohibition, but always impelled by the economic interests of the increasing masculine market that consumed the product with open and not questioned double moral.

Very interesting study that puts fresh information on not always analyzed industry of the entertainment, and much less, in Mexico, and how it has participated in the construction of the present feminine sexuality. Very recommendable.
